It is best to wait at least one week before getting a realxer once you have taken down braids and/or extensions. This helps to ensure your relaxer can properly process with no scalp irritation.

Yes. When visiting the salon for a haircut only please make sure your hair is clean and molded as straight as possilble.

If you are going from long hair to a short pixie cut, please keep your hair straight. Do not put your hair up in a ponytail or wrap your hair. Keeping your hair straight ensures a more precise haircut.

If you want to keep your style, short hair needs to be cut more frequently to stay fresh. You should get a haircut every 4-8 weeks to keep the shape of your haircut looking good.

The longevity of your style will vary depending on your texture and home maintenance.

Below are a few tips for home maintenance:

1. Sleep on a satin pillowcase (DO NOT tie your hair up unless you sweat at night...when you tie your hair up it smashes your style flatter and also make the hair on the back of your head get lines and ridges that cause your hair to flip up)

2. When you bathe or shower, wrap the sides/back with a satin scarf (not a velcro wrap or wrap papers) and put a shower cap on the top where the hair is left out.

3. Apply a liquid sheen or oil to your hair daily or every other day by finger combing your hair or by scruching the oil in with your hands if your style is curled more tightly. Fluff your hair out or comb it with a wide tooth comb and use a light hair spray for hold if necessary.

The beauty of short hair is that you won't look the same everyday, so don't be afraid to comb thru/play with your hair to make it look fresh. It will not look like you just stepped out of the salon everday. It shoudld be soft and managable. NO HARD HAIR at NC Hair Studio.
